I noticed just last night that the way certain people organize things is rather funny. Glasses in three straight lines like Terra-Cotta warriors ready for battle (or thirst-quenching); long lines of people, slightly zigzagged in formation, but nonetheless organized; and the organization of we, the people. It's funny to think that we live so much in lines, whether they be straight, curvy, dashed, or broken, but when you think about it, lines are everywhere. So what does a line really represent? A prescribed path that we must follow, or a way we may go, that we may choose? Sometimes it seems that the lines are blurry, and we must splay our hands in front of us to try to "see" through the fog. But no matter what kind of lines we face, we are parallel on one thing that is certain: they are everywhere, so get in line.
The very essence of our modern lives has a lot to do with lines. We are so constantly caught up in them and accept them as a way of life. Statistics show that a large pecentage of our lives are spent waiting in line. Whether self imposed or society imposed, lines affect all our lives. So what are we waiting for get in line, step right up, the show is about to begin!!!
ReplyDeleteTracey Lee, I don't know if you remember, but when I lived with you for a month, I stayed in your bedroom with you. When I would get home from work everyday you waited to get out my jewelry, earrings and nail polish. You would take all these items and line them up - as I watched you - it was if you were looking at each item, memorizing them and holding them with great value. I distinctly remember your face during this time. It is a precious memory. So, from a very early age - you've been lining things up - analyzing them and putting things in order. Keep it up! Your writings are impressive. I've always known you have something very special inside to share and I want to see, read and hear them.
ReplyDeleteI love and miss you so much, always, Aunt Barb
ahh more similarities. i am also weirdly focused on patters and lines. for me everything has to be in a certain order or done in a certain way to maintain the symmetry in life or else everything is in entropy. i love these little anecdotes that are just random and insightful keep writing them and i will keep readin them :-)
